Adjacent to Ljuraparken in Norrköping, Marge Arkitekter designed an multi-family residential building block in solid wood on behalf of Conlega Fastigheter. The project draws inspiration from the high-quality residential buildings of the 1950s found in the surrounding area: open inner courtyards, a rich but cohesive choice of materials, simple design and attention to detail that adds character. With windows on at least two sides, the apartments are light and airy.
The new apartment block is divided into two buildings, linked by a light, solid wood structure that frames the courtyard. Conceptually, the project consists of four parts, the park being the fourth. The buildings, the soft wooden balconies and the green courtyard area connected to it are the three other parts. All entrances open out onto the courtyard, the social core of the project. The simple landscaping provides a visual link between the courtyard greenery and the adjacent park. Generous views of the park and the town are enjoyed from the bridge-like wooden structure and the well-appointed balconies.
