The aim of this cultural center project was to create a common venue for the local residents where organizations can combine and share their talents and resources. Permanent functions include a library, a café and a play ground. Added to these are activity rooms for cultural events and sports, a drama theater, assembly rooms, and conference rooms. There is even office space for the Swedish Church.
The design focused on smoothly uniting the various activities in the space by creating a shared identity for the cultural center and the community. The library is meant to become a comfortable extra living room for all different ages and cultures. As a unifying theme tying the spaces together we chose a bright color scheme set against ash wood trim and paneling to bring cheer and a warm materiality. In tribute to Carl von Linnés Sävja we have introduced organic forms from nature as a motif for the woodcraft installations.
